Fresh eggs

Barn

In our barn, the animals can move freely and use the entire stabling area at any time. The stall floor is provided with natural materials such as sand or straw, at least 1/3 of the stall area is available as a place for scraping. With a maximum of 9 hens per m² and max. 6,000 hens per stable unit, the space is generous. In order to meet the natural behavior of the chickens, sheltered nesting places are available. These nests are made of malleable material and can be used every day. A sufficient number of seatposts provide each hen with at least 15 cm of space and allows the animals to rest without injuries on their feet and claws. Fresh water and food are freely accessible at all times and, like the lighting of the stables with daylight, ensure a natural day-night rhythm. Continuous ventilation ensures that the stables are supplied with fresh air and ensures an optimal stable climate.

Free-range system

For our free-field hens, the same conditions apply as in our barn. In addition, the animals are also free to go out in the immediate vicinity of the stable, which is accessible to the animals at any time. The free area offers sufficient protection and shelter for the animals in the form of hedges, corn, etc. In the KAT outdoor area, the cultivation of a cold scarf room is compulsory. This is like the free-roaming area straightly accessible from the stable and gives the animals a bright and airy run. For more information please visit www.kat.ec.

Organic production

In organic production - also called organic farming - eggs are produced in a completely biological way. Thus the feed used comes exclusively from organic production without genetic engineering. In addition, the preventive use of antibiotics and hormones is prohibited. The amount of space per hen is even more generous compared to ground and free-range conditions. For example, only 6 chickens per m² may be kept in the stable, the group size is limited to 3,000 animals per stable unit. In addition, the seats in the barn offer more space.
